Dr. Taylor Barton
Dr. Taylor Barton is thrilled to be the principal of FAVE. A native of Rhode Island, Dr. Barton attended Furman University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. He then attended the University of Maine, graduating with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Most recently, he earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University. His teaching experience spans from third grade to tenth grade and includes international experience in Santa Cruz, Bolivia.
Taylor has served as a school administrator for ten years and has spent the last six and a half years as the principal of Lake Forest Elementary School. Under his leadership, the school went from being in the bottom ten percent of all Title 1 schools in Georgia to a Title 1 Rewards School, as well as an internationally recognized model school by the International Center for Leadership in Education and a Solution Tree Model PLC School. Additionally, he led the school’s authorization as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and implemented a Spanish – English dual language immersion program. Lake Forest has also been recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence for the last four years.
Relating to his passion for educational innovation and leadership, Dr. Barton has served on Fulton County’s personalized learning implementation team, presented at national conferences on the integration of leadership and technology, and received the 2020 Blumberg/Pajak Award from the Council of Professors of Instructional Supervision. He is passionate about educational innovation and envisions FAVE as a national model of excellence in virtual education.
In his free time, Dr. Barton enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and Labrador retriever. He also enjoys running, and recently ran his third marathon in a year. He is grateful and honored to be the principal of FAVE and looks forward to being a part of the FAVE community.
